If you’ve read our interviews one question always asked is “What’s the hardest thing about being a musician” so in this blog I’d like to elaborate on this by experience and the answers I’ve received. From Seann (Singer of Symfinity) he told me that “Getting people to come to your show and getting press” This isn’t only a problem for the singer from New York it happens almost everywhere and why? Because my lovely reader, because of completion. Yes you can feel like you’re the only band around but in reality you’re not all you can do is keep promoting and keep working at it Antonio (Singer of Burning Brains the Band) told me that “It was hard to get serious musicians to form my band, because responsibility is a great lack in musicians today and you have a certain amount of money to move on” was a hard thing about being a musician. These are definitely important factors, if you’re going to start a band with your friends makes sure they are prepared to put time into the band, I’m not saying to dedicate every waking hour just to the band, but a few hours each week from that see where it goes. Money wise you should all pitch in a band it we not I Zander (Singer of Hanshotfirst) told me “Getting gigs” is a hard part. Surprisingly enough he’s not the only one to tell me this. Gigs (or shows) are for some, an important part of being a musician. Why? Well 1. You play live 2. You have a potential to gain fans 3. It gets your name out there And 4. Its just plain awesome. It seems simple right walk in ask to play and boom your on stage. Oh you cute minded reader you :3 You see you can’t just walk in and ask to play, you got to rent the venue promote the gig, get the gear, hope you don’t screw up and pray you got fans coming because those fans can gain you more fans. Getting a venue is also a hard part and this I know by experience….I’ve searched for some for a band like damn it’s hard that’s not including price. Should I mention trying to tour ….you lose more money than you make since you sell merchandise in an other country. In short Gigs, Concerts and Tours are hard factor in a musician’s life. Kevin Timothy told my in his view that “I found that it's keeping a good group of people together that make great music, not all members click, but when you find the ones that do, that makes a great band, finding those people are the hardest thing about being a musician, to me” and this is definitely true. You don’t want a band where the members want to kill each other or they despise each other By my own experience, writing, producing and recording music is a hard and harsh part, why? Because when you can’t think of lyrics or music you’re not really putting anything out for your fans or potential fans and it’s really frustrating. You try to write but nothing comes You want to play but nothing sounds right so you kind of curl into a ball, hum some tunes and drink coffee till you get it back, so its like a cold of a musician XD. So with this little bit of information you must feel discouraged, don’t feel this way because I do have tips for you from these musicians Zanders tip is “ start early” if you really know you want to start a band do it don’t hesitate. Seanns tip is “write lyrics and music” this is a great tip because well lets face it you need MUISC to be a MUSICian, and in all believe in your band and do lose faith over a bad song or because one person hates a song. Keep playing Xoxo M.S
